Gophers on verge of losing coordinator

We’ve noted a couple of times over the last few days that it looks like Minnesota offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch will be leaving for a job with Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks.

While nothing is official, athletic director Joel Maturi all but confirmed that the Gophers will be looking for their third offensive coordinator in the last three years.

I believe he’s gone,” Maturi said. “I believe it will be official soon, that he will no longer be our offensive coordinator.”

Maturi said that head coach Tim Brewster “has some people in mind” as a replacement for Fisch, but the two “have not chatted specifically about it”.

Brewster’s boss did have some advice for his coach, however.

“My comment to him was, ‘Take a deep breath, do the right thing for the football team and for him. There is no need to hurry.’”
