Out since the opener due to injury, Ed Wesley will be available for TCU when they host SMU this weekend.
The running back, who led the Horned Frogs in rushing last season, aggravated a shoulder injury during the season-opening loss to Baylor and has missed the past three games. Wednesday, it was confirmed Wesley has been cleared to play for the first time since earlier this month and will play against the Mustangs.
Just how much action Wesley will see in his first game back remains to be seen.
“I’m not telling SMU that,” head coach Gary Patterson said when asked if he’ll ease Wesley back onto the field.
Wesley led the Horned Frogs with 1,078 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2010. In Wesley’s absence, Waymon James (344 yards, two touchdowns) and Matthew Tucker (266, five) have carried the bulk of the running-game load for the No. 20 Horned Frogs.
