BYU TE Josh Weeks suspended after violating stalking order

When it comes to resetting the “Days Without An Arrest” ticker, we might be plowing new territory with the latest trigger to double zeroes.

The Deseret News is reporting that BYU tight end Josh Weeks (pictured, No. 16) was arrested this past Monday for violating a stalking injunction. The Salt Lake Tribune writes that "[c]ourt documents show that an Orem woman who is a student at Utah Valley University took out a stalking injunction against Weeks... on March 4.” From the Tribune:

The temporary civil stalking injunction was signed by Fourth District Court Judge David R. Taylor and ordered Weeks to stay away from the woman’s home, work, school and vehicle. A hearing on the matter had been set for April 1 and both parties had secured legal representation.

No further details surrounding the issue, including any type of relationship between the two, are known.

What is known, however, is that the sophomore has been indefinitely suspended by the football program because of the arrest.

As a true freshman wide receiver last season -- he was a Max Preps All-American in 2009 and 2010 who put off the start of his college career to serve a two-year Mormon mission -- Weeks caught three passes for 23 yards. The 6-4, 232-pound Weeks moved from receiver to tight end at the start of spring practice this year.
