BOSTON -- Boston College coach Jeff Hafley has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in Chestnut Hill through 2026.

The Eagles (6-6, 2-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) qualified for a bowl game for the second straight year despite finishing the regular season with back-to-back losses, including a 41-10 loss to No. 18 Wake Forest. BC, which opted to skip a bowl game after the pandemic-interrupted 2020 season, awaits its matchup for this year.

“Jeff has had a tremendous impact on our football program over just two seasons at the Heights,” athletic director Pat Kraft said. “He has built a strong culture, both on and off the field, recruited talented student-athletes and helped us build meaningful relationships for the entire Boston College community. We are excited for the future of BC football under Jeff’s leadership.”

Hafley, 42, is 12-11 in two seasons with the Eagles since taking over from Steve Addazio.

“From Day 1, Boston College has been a special place for my family and I and we are thrilled to continue to be a part of this community,” Hafley said. “I am grateful for the dedication and hard work of our players, coaches and staff, who have come together to build a foundation for an incredible future.”

A former Ohio State defensive coordinator who has also served on the staffs of three NFL teams, Hafley has landed highly rated recruiting classes since arriving at BC. According to Rivals.com, BC’s 2022 class is No. 24 nationally and fourth in the ACC.
