Boise State and Idaho fans can now buy beer or wine before football games

Selling beer at college football games seems to be a bit more trendy and picking up momentum around the country. Fans of the Boise State Broncos may not be able to sip on a beer inside Albertsons Stadium during a game this fall, but the university moved one step closer to potentially crossing that bridge in the future.

On Thursday the Idaho State Board of Education approved a request from Boise State University to sell beer and wine to fans with a ticket for home football games before entering the stadium. Similar requests were approved for Idaho and Idaho State as well.Fans with a ticket to the game will now be allowed to purchase beer or wine inside the Caven-Williams Sports Complex, as long as they meet the 21-year age minimum of course.

Fans with a ticket to the game will now be allowed to purchase beer or wine inside the Caven-Williams Sports Complex, as long as they meet the 21-year age minimum of course. The Idaho Statesman reports Boise State intends to begin offering beer and wine as early as this season, but that is no guarantee at this time with many plans still to hash out for security and other logistics.

It is no secret the benefit of offering beer and wine sales by colleges is a revenue boost. While there are some concerns about binge drinking that are addressed by the school offering a contained alcohol flow, everything ultimately boils down to dollars and cents. And that’s OK, because college sports are run like companies anyway.
