Iowa State redshirt senior WR La’Michael Pettway caught six pases for 96 yards with two touchdowns in a 41-31 victory over Kansas on Saturday.
Pettway (6'2/223) was having a solid season after transferring from Arkansas to Iowa State this offseason, but he’s really picked things up as of late. In his last two contests, he’s caught 14 passes for 196 yards, and his two receiving scores against the Jayhawks give him six on the season. Iowa State’s offense is humming right now, and Pettway will look to keep up the good work next Saturday against Kansas State.
  • Tight End #46
Iowa State redshirt senior WR La’Michael Pettway caught eight passes for 100 yards in Saturday’s 23-21 win over Texas.
Pettway (6'2/223) hit a career accolade on Saturday. Dating back to his days at Arkansas, Pettway had never earned a 100-yard game until he did so against Texas. While it may not do a whole lot for his potential draft prospects, it’s got to feel good for Pettway to hit the 100-yard mark in one of the final games of his career.
  • Tight End #46
Iowa State redshirt senior WR La’Michael Pettway brought in seven passes for 63 yards in Saturday’s 34-27 loss to Oklahoma State.
Pettway has stepped up his game for the Cyclones over the past few weeks. In the past three games, Pettway has earned either at least 60 yards or one touchdown. He has not been the star WR Deshaune Jones has been, but as a secondary option for QB Brock Purdy, he’s getting it done. Pettway’s 6-foot-, 219-frame also serves as a stark contrast from Jones’ much smaller frame.
  • Tight End #46
Iowa State redshirt senior WR La’Michael Pettway brought in five receptions for 83 yards with a score in an 18-17 loss to Iowa on Saturday.
Pettway gave the Cyclones a 7-3 lead on a receiving score, but it wasn’t from Brock Purdy, but rather a heave from wideout Deshaunte Jones on a trick play. Outside of that, Pettway was mostly held in check, but a 5/83/1 effort is nothing to sneeze at. The former Arkansas wideout appears to be a favorite target of Brock Purdy early on, and he should continue to be so; continuing next Saturday against Louisiana Monroe.
  • Tight End #46
The Des Moines Register’s Randy Peterson passes along that Iowa State redshirt senior WR La’Michael Pettway is warming up as a likely starter for Saturday’s game against Northern Iowa.
Pettway (6'2/219) transferred from Arkansas to Iowa State over the offseason and subsequently beat out the likes of Sean Shaw Jr. and Jalen Martin. Outside of QB Brock Purdy, the Cyclones’ offense will be working in a number of fresh faces early in the season.
  • Tight End #46
The Athletic’s Max Olson notes Iowa State redshirt senior WR La’Michael Pettway will rotate at Z.
Pettway (6'2/219) is competing with redshirt freshman Sean Shaw Jr.and junior Jalen Martin for snaps, but we believe Pettway will lead this pack. The real question is how these valuable Brock Purdy-thrown targets will be split between Deshaunte Jones, Tarique Milton, and Pettway. There’s potential for one of the receivers to have a mini-breakout season with Hakeem Butler and David Montgomery out of the picture.
  • Tight End #46
Iowa State redshirt senior WR La’Michael Pettway has enrolled in classes at the university.
Pettway (6'2/219) announced that he would be transferring out from Arkansas as a graduate transfer in January and subsequently decided on Iowa State earlier this month. His move is now officially in the books, as he is enrolled in classes. He will look to help make up for production lost with the departure of Hakeem Butler, now, after posting a 30-499-4 receiving line with the Razorbacks in 2018. His exact placement on the depth chart will clarify during August camp.
  • Tight End #46
Arkansas redshirt senior WR La’Michael Pettway transferred to Iowa State.
This is a great landing spot for Pettway (6'2/219) as the Cyclones have a potential star quarterback in Brock Purdy and there’s plenty of missing targets to go around with Hakeem Butler off to the NFL. While at Arkansas, Pettway was stuck in a reserved role for three years before a mini-breakout in 2018 to the tune of 30-499-4.
  • Tight End #46
Arkansas redshirt senior WR La’Michael Pettway announced he’ll leave Arkansas as a graduate transfer.
Pettway will be able to play immediately for his final season at whatever institution he lands at. In a season that was chalk full of disappointments, Pettway showed some flashes of brilliance in his redshirt junior season; catching 30 passes for 499 yards with four touchdowns. The 6-foot-2, 219-pound wideout won’t be a star, but should help someone’s receiver rotation -- potentially as a starter -- in 2019.
  • Tight End #46
Arkansas redshirt junior WR La’Michael Pettway brought in four passes for 83 yards in a 52-6 loss to Mississippi State on Saturday.
It comes in a losing effort, but it’s Pettway’s best game since the opener when he went for 93 yards and two scores against Eastern Illinois. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound wideout still oozes talent, but it’s tough to get a read on a player that’s playing in such a bad offense with inconsistent -- at best -- quarterback play. Arkansas will try and get their first conference win of the year on Friday against Missouri.
