Dolphins signed UCLA EDGE Grayson Murphy.
Like his brother, Murphy (6’2/251) was a three star recruit who initially started 14 games at North Texas throughout his first two collegiate campaigns before transferring to UCLA with his twin brother after a strong 2021 season with 12.5 TFL and 8.5 sacks. For the Bruins, he would produce 5.0 sacks and 9.0 TFL’s in each season, with two forced fumbles to add in 2023. The Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 performer goes to a rip move frequently, but most often finds success by using his hands to stay unengaged and using his speed/agility to bend around blockers. While he is not as technically refined as his twin, an 85.2 PFF grade as a pass rusher shows he was nearly as effective. On early downs Murphy was solid, having 23 defensive stops and slashing his missed tackle rate from 31% to 10% in 2023. Despite his exceptional play and improved tackling, Murphy’s 30 ¼ inch arms will make rushing the passer and defending the run a challenge against better competition. If he can make a roster, a year of special teams play will be how he gets on the field while developing his pass rush moves.
  • MIA Linebacker #59
Former North Texas redshirt sophomore EDGE Grayson Murphy transferred to UCLA in March.
Murphy (6'2/254) did so along with his twin edge-rushing brother Gabriel. Last year, Grayson was a PFF Third-Team All-CUSA selection after posting 12.5 TFLs, 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and nine quarterback hurries across 13 games. The Murphy boys chose UCLA over offers from offers from Oregon State, Kansas, Penn State, West Virginia, USC, Duke and Nebraska.

  • MIA Linebacker #59
Former North Texas EDGEs Grayson and Gabriel Murphy received offers from Nebraska.
Both Grayson (6'2"/254) and Gabriel Murphy are in the transfer portal after spending two seasons with the mean Green. The identical twin brothers both posted solid 2021 seasons at North Texas with Grayson totaling 30 tackles, 54 quarterback pressures and 10 sacks per PFF.com, while Gabriel finished the year with 46 tackles, 48 pressures and eight sacks. Considered to be a package deal according to 247Sports’ Brian Christopherson, whoever lands these brothers get at best two top-flight pass rushers with three years of eligibility. Nebraska was the latest to make an offer to the Murphys, whose services will be sought by many top programs.

  • MIA Linebacker #59
North Texas sophomore DE Grayson Murphy has entered the transfer portal.
Murphy (6'2/254) joined his brother Gabriel in the transfer portal on Thursday. Over his first two seasons for the Mean Green, Murphy amassed 11.5 sacks (8.5 this year) and one forced fumble. When he finds his new program, Murphy will have three years remaining due to the COVID-19 additional year.
