TCU got some huge news on Monday morning when the NCAA officially announced that Devonta Abron would be allowed to play this season.
Abron was a freshman at Arkansas last year, averaging 5.7 points and 4.2 boards in just over 16 minutes per game. He earned 22 starts as well, but he transferred out of the program and closer to his Dallas home to deal with what was reported to be a health issue in his family.
“I am pleased we were able to work with the NCAA to get a resolution in regards to Devonta’s status,” said TCU head coach Trent Johnson. “We are excited that he will be on the floor for us in our first season as a member of the Big 12 Conference.”
Abron, a 6-foot-8 power forward, was a top 100 recruit coming out of high school. He’s a huge addition to the Horned Frogs as they enter their first season in the Big 12.
