Phillies signed Cody Stashak to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Stashak was last in the Giants’ organization and posted a 5.45 ERA with Triple-A Sacramento in 2024. The 30-year-old will compete for a bullpen spot with Philadelphia, but faces an uphill battle.
  • SF Third Baseman #10
Giants optioned INF Casey Schmitt and INF David Villar to Triple-A Sacramento; reassigned RHP Cody Stashak and RHP Spencer Bivens to minor league camp.
Though he’d seem to be better defensively than Marco Luciano there, Schmitt wasn’t taken seriously as a shortstop candidate this spring, playing the position just twice. Most of his time came at third. He hit just .111/.258/.231 in 31 plate appearances, so it’s not like he was making a case anyway. Villar, who opened last year in the majors, was far better, coming in at .308/.400/.667, but even before the Matt Chapman signing, it didn’t look like he had a path to making the roster.

Giants re-signed RHP Cody Stashak to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 29-year-old right-hander was released by the Giants in mid-November, but ultimately the two sides were able to link back up and work out an agreement. He missed most of the 2023 season while recovering from shoulder surgery, but got in two appearances with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League before catching on with the Giants and hurling five innings at Triple-A Sacramento before the season came to a close. He’ll be a longshot to crack the Opening Day bullpen, but adds solid depth for the Giants.

    Giants released RHP Cody Stashak.
San Francisco’s front office rolled the dice on Stashak a couple months ago as a potential reclamation project, but the 29-year-old righty’s time with the organization appears to be over after making five relief outings this past season for Triple-A Sacramento. He also had a stint earlier this year with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League. He last appeared in the majors for the Twins back in 2022 before undergoing shoulder surgery.

Giants signed RHP Cody Stashak to a minor league contract.
Stashak allowed two runs in one inning in his first appearance in Triple-A on Friday. The 29-year-old made 11 relief appearances for the Twins last year and had a brief stint with the independent Lancaster Barnstormers this season before latching on with the Giants. He’ll provide some bullpen depth for now.

    Cody Stashak elected free agency.
Stashak was outrighted to Triple-A after clearing waivers, and now will be on the open market. The right-hander registered a 3.86 ERA over his 16 1/3 innings before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery.

Twins sent RHP Cody Stashak outright to Triple-A St. Paul.
Stashak made just 11 relief appearances last season due to injury and underwent right shoulder surgery back in June. The 28-year-old right-hander has been removed from Minnesota’s 40-man roster and could opt to explore free agency this offseason. We’ll see.

Twins transferred RHP Cody Stashak from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Stashak is likely to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery this month. The procedural move opens up a spot on the Twins’ 40-man roster moving forward.

Twins right-hander Cody Stashak (shoulder) is likely to undergo season-ending surgery.
The 27-year-old hurler is currently on the injured list with what had initially been diagnosed as a right shoulder impingement. He recently received a second opinion though that seems to have revealed a torn labrum. It that’s indeed the case, he’ll finish the 2022 season with a 3.86 ERA and 15/0 K/BB ratio over his 16 1/3 innings of work.

Twins placed RHP Cody Stashak on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.
Stashak will go on the injured list as Trevor Larnach is activated. The 27-year-old right hander is dealing with a right shoulder impingement. He’s pitched to a 3.86 ERA with a 15/0 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings.
