CJ Elleby was waived by the Timberwolves on Saturday.
Elleby initially signed a training camp deal before signing a full contract in late August. However, he wouldn’t have been in their rotation, so this won’t impact any fantasy basketball leagues.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #22
CJ Elleby, who had previously signed an Exhibit 10 deal with Minnesota, has officially signed with the Timberwolves, per the team’s PR announcement.
Elleby has presumably secured himself a roster spot, but it’s unlikely he sees enough of a role to impact fantasy basketball, even in deeper leagues. Feel free to disregard him.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #22
CJ Elleby has agreed to a deal with the Timberwolves that will allow him a chance to compete for a roster spot in training camp.
Depending on how he fares in training camp, Elleby may not even make the Opening Night roster for Minnesota. Factor in that they’re going to be a very competitive team this season, and Elleby may not see the floor often if the makes the team. Feel free to disregard him in fantasy until he proves it in training camp.

  • NBA Power Forward #10
The Portland Trail Blazers will start Brandon Williams, Keon Johnson, Didi Louzada, CJ Elleby and Reggie Perry in Sunday’s finale against the Jazz.
The Blazers have a whopping 11 guys listed as out for Sunday’s finale, and with the way things have been going, don’t be surprised if one of these guys the majority of people have never heard of goes off out of nowhere. Louzada and Perry will get the first starts of their careers, but Williams, Johnson and Greg Brown (who will come off the bench) are the only somewhat proven guys in this list. Proceed with plenty of caution as the Blazers try to lose their last game of a forgettable season.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #22
CJ Elleby (non-COVID illness) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jazz.
Elleby has been starting since Portland decided to pull the proverbial plug on this season, which has given him the opportunity to provide deep-league value. However, he hasn’t been consistent enough to merit that kind of faith from fantasy managers. Just leave Elleby on the waiver wire, and there will be better low-cost options than him in DFS as well.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #22
CJ Elleby scored a career-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting (2-of-5 3-pointers) to go with two rebounds and no turnovers, but the Blazers lost to the Pelicans 127-94 on Thursday night.
The Blazers got blown out again on Thursday, but what else is new these days. Elleby shot the ball well and scored in double figures for the first time since March 25th. He isn’t consistent enough to even be a factor in DFS over the last two games, so don’t overreact to this performance.

  • MIL Power Forward #12
Justise Winslow (left calf inflammation) will not be available for Sunday’s game against the Spurs and will miss his sixth straight contest.
At this point it’s shocking that the Blazers haven’t just shut him down fo good, but maybe he’ll play another game or two. While sidelined, it’s been guys like Ben McLemore, CJ Elleby and even Greg Brown getting more burn, but the only appeal is the triples from McLemore and the possibility of Brown building upon his near double-double from Friday’s loss.

  • Power Forward #13
Greg Brown is dealing with a left eye contusion and has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday’s matchup with the Rockets.
Brown got through just six minutes of this one, scoring four points with a board and a steal in what is currently a tight game. Brown randomly hauled in 14 rebounds back on Wednesday but otherwise hasn’t done all too much, so this won’t affect fantasy hoops in a big way. Maybe CJ Elleby and Elijah Hughes get a few more minutes each, but that’s about it.

  • NYK Shooting Guard #3
Josh Hart (left knee patellar tendinopathy) will miss a fourth straight game Saturday when the Blazers face the Rockets.
If you haven’t already added Kris Dunn, now’s the time to do so, as he should continue to soak up minutes in Hart’s absence. CJ Elleby, Keon Johnson and Ben McLemore should be more involved as well.

  • BKN Power Forward #9
Trendon Watford scored 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting (3-of-5 free throws) to go with six assists, five rebounds, one steal, and two turnovers, but the Blazers lost to the Rockets 125-106 on Friday night.
The Blazers are going nowhere fast, and they have lost seven of their last eight games. They are rolling with a glorified G-League roster at this point, and Watford is going to have the chance to put up some numbers to finish the season. He is rostered in 59% of Yahoo! Leagues at the moment, so there is a chance he is still available in your league. CJ Elleby also played well for Portland, scoring 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting (1-of-2 3-pointers) to go with seven rebounds, three assists, and two turnovers in 28 minutes.
