West

West was signed off the Packers practice squad in September and was active for the first time this season in Week 10. The Jaguars passing attack is a situation to avoid in fantasy, but West may have the most upside of any of the receivers currently on their roster. Most of his snaps came in three-wide sets where he appears to be the preferred option to Kassim Osgood.

Taking Mike Thomas’ place opposite Jarett Dillard, West hauled in a perfectly thrown 16-yard strike from Blaine Gabbert for the Jags’ lone offensive score in the 41-14 blowout. The undrafted rookie from Fresno State will head back to the bench in Week 16, assuming Thomas returns from his concussion.

West had a big preseason, including five catches for 134 yards in the Packers’ second exhibition game. The Jags were without Jason Hill (hip) on Sunday, so West is a reinforcement. Jacksonville’s receiver corps is wide open behind Mike Thomas and Cecil Shorts. We can’t say we’d be surprised if West earned playing time on offense before the season ends.

West (6-foot-1, 216) has bounced around a bit since entering the league as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State. He earned a Super Bowl ring as a member of the Packers’ practice squad in 2010, then caught 13 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns with the Jaguars the following season.

The Packers were shopping Giacomini hard the past few days but couldn’t find a taker. Matt Flynn will back up Aaron Rodgers, as expected, but the Packers like Harrell enough to try to get him back on the practice squad.

Green Bay also waived WRs Tori Gurley and Kerry Taylor today, and appears poised to enter the season with just five wideouts. West caught five passes for 134 yards in the Packers’ second preseason game, while Gurley and Taylor both also had strong exhibition seasons.

Thomas is going to be hard-pressed to return to game action on a short week. The Jaguars starters at Atlanta could be Jarett Dillard and Chastin West, with Taylor Price and special teamer Kassim Osgood in reserve.

Jarett Dillard and Chastin West are the starting receivers, though neither is a recommended WR3 option. Josh Scobee (groin) is active and handling field goals, as expected. DuJuan Harris is up as the No. 2 tailback and kickoff returner while Dillard is expected to handle punt returns.
