Single-A Lake Elsinore’s Chase Headley returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with two walks.
Headley missed six days due to a bruised foot. The 2005 second-round pick is currently batting .287/.392/.441 in 383 at-bats.

Single-A Lake Elsinore’s Chase Headley has been sidelined since fouling a ball off his foot on Wednesday.
Headley is available as a pinch-hitter and could get back into the lineup later this week.

Chase Headley went 4-for-4 with two homers Saturday for Single-A Lake Elsinore.
Headley, a 2005 second-round pick, could be the Padres’ third baseman of the future. He’s currently batting .280/.373/.441 in 143 at-bats for Lake Elsinore.

Chase Headley (finger) hopes to play during the final homestand of the season, which begins on September 23.
Headley hasn’t played since August 6 due to a fractured left pinkie finger. He took batting practice again Tuesday and could receive medical clearance as soon as this weekend. However, because of the nature of the injury, Headley will only hit left-handed if he returns this season.

Padres activated 3B Chase Headley from the 15-day disabled list.
While Headley is on the active roster, he’ll need to see more live pitching before returning to the starting lineup. The 27-year-old third baseman hasn’t played since August 6 due to a fractured left pinkie finger.

Chase Headley went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs in Wednesday’s loss to the Rockies.
Headley took Juan Nicasio deep for a solo shot in the first inning before tagging him again for a two-run bomb in the sixth. Headley’s four home runs are already as many as he hit in 113 games a season ago. That either means he’s on his way to a power breakout, or has used up his home run allotment for the next 60 days. The truth is likely somewhere in between. He remains a below-average, if acceptable, option at third base in deeper mixed leagues.

Chase Headley (back) reported no setbacks in his Cactus League debut.
Headley had been sidelined by lower back tightness but manager Bud Black said the issue is a one-time occurrence and that the Padres were ''just being cautious’’ in the early part of their spring training schedule.

Chase Headley was a late scratch from Monday’s Cactus League lineup due to back tightness.
The Padres don’t seem concerned that it’s anything more than mild discomfort. Headley, 27, batted .289 with a .773 OPS, 28 doubles and 44 RBI in 113 games last season for San Diego and makes for a decent fantasy option this year in NL-only and deeper mixed formats.

The Padres announced Thursday that CEO Jeff Moorad is stepping down.
Padres president and COO Tom Garfinkel will take over Moorad’s role on an interim basis. Moorad will remain active as the team’s chairman and majority owner, and will oversee the Friars’ dealings with FOX Sports San Diego. It’s a move that shouldn’t have any sort of on-field effect.

Chase Headley singled and launched a solo homer Thursday against the Indians.
The Padres third baseman took Ubaldo Jimenez deep in the fourth inning for his second longball this spring. Headley is batting .304 in Cactus League play to go along with a cool 1.038 OPS. He doesn’t give you the power numbers fantasy owners desire from the hot corner, but he makes up for it a bit with what could be a nice average and double-digit steals.
