It’s difficult to give up three doubles, walk three and hit a batter with a pitch through four innings and not give up at least one run, but Barnes managed to pull it off. He had thrown only 68 pitches through his four frames, but the Twins have not been letting the lefty get very deep into his pitch count. It potentially cost him his first major league win Tuesday. Barnes will finish with a 5.86 ERA over eight appearances -- seven starts -- for the Twins.

Barnes will start for Minnesota on Tuesday night against the Tigers. The 25-year-old southpaw has posted a rough 6.61 ERA and 15/12 K/BB ratio across his first 31 1/3 major league innings this season.
