Mariners recalled OF Carlos Peguero from Triple-A Tacoma.
Peguero was recalled to take Mike Carp’s place on the active roster. He has massive power potential, but has struggled to make consistent contact in the major leagues. He’ll have to battle Casper Wells and Chone Figgins for playing time in left field.
  • INT Outfielder
Carlos Peguero blasted his fourth home run of the spring Tuesday, a two-run shot off the Reds’ Jeff Francis.
Peguero also singled, driving in four runs on the day. The mammoth outfielder is hitting .268 with an .863 OPS this spring in his effort to win a spot on the bench. Peguero still strikes out way too much, but his power makes him worth tracking in AL-only formats.
  • INT Outfielder
Mariners optioned OF Carlos Peguero to Triple-A Tacoma.
Peguero was called up from the minors last week after Mike Carp was placed on the disabled list, but Casper Wells should see most of the playing time in left field for now. Alex Liddi has been awarded the final spot on the Mariners’ 25-man roster.
  • INT Outfielder
Carlos Peguero went 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI Tuesday against the Rockies.
He’s batted .294 this spring while homering five times and driving in 13 runs. The powerful outfielder was sent down just before the Mariners’ games in Japan but was quickly recalled once Mike Carp went on the DL. It’s possible he could churn out some short-term AL-only value.
  • INT Outfielder
Carlos Peguero underwent knee surgery on Thursday.
The procedure was designed to repair the torn meniscus in the 25-year-old outfielder’s left knee. Peguero is expected to need 4-6 weeks of recovery and rehab time.
  • INT Outfielder
Carlos Peguero homered in Friday’s loss to the Diamondbacks.
Fighting for a spot on the Mariners’ Opening Day roster, Peguero has now homered three times this spring, driving in six runs across just 19 at-bats. He’ll be worth an add in AL-only leagues if he opens the year in the big leagues.
  • INT Outfielder
Carlos Peguero is scheduled to undergo knee surgery and will be out the next 4-6 weeks.
Peguero is currently stationed at Triple-A Tacoma but will likely rehab at the Mariners’ spring training complex in Arizona. The 25-year-old outfielder batted .196/.252/.371 in 46 major league games last year.
  • INT Outfielder
Carlos Peguero homered in a second straight game Saturday against the A’s.
Peguero, the Mariners’ primary left fielder from mid-May to mid-July last year, isn’t in the team’s plans for the beginning of this season, though that could change if he explodes for 8-10 homers this month. He may always swing and miss too often to be of much use, but he does possess a whole lot of power.
  • INT Outfielder
Mariners optioned OF Carlos Peguero to Triple-A Tacoma.
In other words, the Mariners decided to keep Casper Wells around as a fourth outfielder, instead. Peguero slugged four homers this spring, but Wells brings a bit more to the table defensively. The Mariners also reassigned catcher Guillermo Quiroz to minor league camp.
  • MLB First Baseman #10
Jesus Montero (concussion) is not in Friday’s lineup against the Athletics.
Montero was diagnosed with a mild concussion after taking a foul tip off his facemask during Wednesday’s game. The Mariners don’t think he will need a trip to the disabled list, but he could be rested through the weekend. Ichiro Suzuki will serve as the designated hitter Friday while Carlos Peguero plays right field.
