The move actually took place last week. Seemingly, the Mets decided they didn’t have room for him as they were setting their minor league rosters.

It’s a split deal that will come with different salaries whether he’s in the majors or the minors. Joseph, 34, has a rough .220/.270/.351 career batting line in 1,367 plate appearances at baseball’s highest level.

Joseph was designated for assignment last week and passed through waivers unclaimed. The veteran will remain in the organization as emergency catching depth for the stretch run.

Joseph was up for less than a week. The Jays are going with youngster Alejandro Kirk to pair with Danny Jansen at catcher.

He’ll replace the slumping Reese McGuire as the primary backup behind starter Danny Jansen. The 34-year-old is a career .223/.270/.350 hitter in 1358 plate appearances at the big league level and can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Joseph made it into 20 games with the Diamondbacks last year and slashed .211/.250/.263 with zero homers and three RBI in 41 plate appearances. He has never been a good hitter -- he has a .620 OPS in 422 career major league games. He will try to make the club as a backup catcher.

The 33-year-old was expected to earn around $1.2 million through arbitration this winer, but with the depth that the Diamondbacks have behind the dish they felt he was expendable. He’ll try to latch on elsewhere in a reserve role.

Joseph, the Orioles’ long-time backup catcher, will finish out this year as the Diamondbacks’ third-stringer. He’s 4-for-28 in the majors this year, and he has a lifetime .222/.269/.349 line in 1,348 plate appearances.

Joseph has hit .143/.200/.214 in 13 games in the majors this season. He’s no longer needed with Alex Avila back from the injured list.

Joseph is 3-for-17 at the plate during his brief time in the majors this season. He’ll back up Carson Kelly while Alex Avila (calf) is out.
