    49ers re-signed S C.J. Spillman to a three-year, $6 million contract.
    The deal contains $1.8 million guaranteed. The Niners skipped over Spillman’s restricted free agency to get him under contract through 2014. Spillman, 26 in May, led San Francisco with 19 special teams tackles in 2011 and has 36 over the past two seasons. On defense, Spillman is a backup strong safety.

    Free agent DB C.J. Spillman has been charged with sexual assault in Tarrant County, Tex.
    Spillman was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at the Cowboys’ team hotel on September 20 last year, and the judge finally handed down the paperwork on Monday. The Cowboys continued to let Spillman, a special teams ace, play, as he appeared in all 16 games. This isn’t 29-year-old Spillman’s first sexually-charged wrongdoing, as he was accused of rape back in 2013.

    Cowboys S C.J. Spillman is being investigated for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on September 20.
    Spillman was allowed to play against the Rams on September 21. Grapevine (TX) police say Spillman was “involved” in a sexual assault at the Cowboys’ team hotel. “He is involved in the investigation,” said a police spokesman. “We are looking into the matter.” As the NFL is trying to crack down hard on crimes like the one Spillman is accused of, he could face a lengthy suspension.
