Chiefs TE Nick Keizer retired after three years in the NFL.
Keizer earned his first regular season snaps in 2020 with the Chiefs. He played primarily on special teams but also logged six receptions for 63 yards while backing up Travis Kelce. Rookie Noah Gray will likely serve as Kelce’s backup this year. The Chiefs signed guard Bryan Witzmann following Keizer’s retirement.

  • FA Guard #68
    Panthers waived OG Bryan Witzmann.
Witzmann was signed after Week 1 and appeared in just two games. A journeyman with size and starting experience, it won’t be surprising if he resurfaces. Whatever team adds Witzmann will be his third of 2019.
  • FA Guard #68
Browns signed OG Bryan Witzmann, formerly of the Bears.
Witzmann started seven games at right guard in place of an injured Kyle Long with the Bears last season and was an obvious weak link there. Prior to that, Witzmann was the Chiefs’ left guard in 2017. He amassed poor marks from Pro Football Focus in Kansas City as well. Witzmann, 29 in June, will compete for a reserve job.
  • FA Guard #68
Chiefs signed OL Bryan Witzmann to a one-year extension through 2018.
Witzmann is a 2014 UDFA who made the first 11 appearances of his career last season. He played four snaps on offense. He was slated to be an exclusive rights free agent next offseason. Now 27, Witzmann is expected to get a shot at the Chiefs’ left guard job, where he’ll battle Parker Ehinger.
