Rams tendered exclusive rights free agents QB Tom Brandstater, DT Jermelle Cudjo, WR Dominique Curry, OG Bryan Mattison, FB Brit Miller, and SS Darian Stewart.
Of the six ERFAs tendered, Stewart saw the most action last season, though he struggled mightily in pass coverage as the Rams’ starting strong safety. These players will be brought to Rams camp, all competing for roster spots.
  • FA Guard #64
Rams signed G/C Bryan Mattison off the Ravens’ practice squad.
The 27-year-old Mattison was believed to have been on scholarship in Baltimore because his father used to be the defensive coordinator and is close with the entire coaching staff. It’s an odd signing for the Rams, who need to be thinking about the future. Mattison isn’t a part of theirs.
  • FA Guard #64
    Ravens waived C/G Bryan Mattison.
Mattison was being used sparingly as a reserve, making just eight appearances and zero starts. He should be first in line for a call if the Ravens need a reinforcement along their offensive line.
  • FA Guard #64
The Rams will hold an open competition at left guard in training camp.
It’s a potentially huge trouble spot for a line already among the league’s worst at the other four positions. “We’ve got a lot of options, and we’ll continue to rotate guys in there,” said coach Jeff Fisher. Options include former practice squad player Bryan Mattison, undersized center Tim Barnes, ex-Jet special teamer Rob Turner, and mammoth rookie project Rokevious Watkins.
  • FA Tackle #69
Journeyman Quinn Ojinnaka opened Rams camp as the first-team left guard.
Bryan Mattison took the bulk of the snaps at the position in offseason practices. The inference is that the coaching staff wasn’t thrilled with his performance. Left guard is a potential trouble spot for a team that wants to run heavily in 2012.
  • FA Guard #64
    Chiefs signed C Bryan Mattison.
The Chiefs are scraping around for interior lineman after placing C Rodney Hudson on injured reserve. Mattison has been out of the league since getting a cup of coffee with the Rams at the end of last season.
  • FA Guard #64
    Chiefs re-signed G/C Bryan Mattison.
CB Neiko Thorpe was waived in a corresponding move. Mattison was waived on Saturday. He’s yet to appear in a game this season, but made 13 appearances between the Ravens and Rams in 2012. He’ll provide depth against the Bucs.
  • FA Guard #64
    Chiefs waived C Bryan Mattison.
With Jalil Brown (hamstring) doubtful for Sunday’s game, the Chiefs had just three healthy corners on their active roster. Undrafted CB Neiko Thorpe has been signed from the practice squad in a corresponding move.
  • BAL Tight End #80
Ravens signed TE Davon Drew, WRs Eron Riley and Maurice Price, DE/OLB Will VanDeSteeg, DL/OL Bryan Mattison, and OTs Stefan Rodgers and Joe Reitz to reserve/future contracts.
All spent 2009 on the practice squad. Mattison is the son of Ravens defensive coordinator Greg Mattison. Drew is the most intriguing prospect. He has vertical skills and narrowly missed out on a roster spot last summer. With L.J. Smith likely to exit, he’ll have a real chance to make the Ravens.
  • FA Guard #64
Ravens signed OG Bryan Mattison from the practice squad.
A former defensive end at Iowa, Bryan is the son of Ravens defensive coordinator Greg. The younger Mattison will provide depth on the offensive line with RG Chris Chester likely to miss Sunday’s game due to a skin infection.
