According to The Athletic, the Clippers are “in serious talks” with G League Ignite coach Brian Shaw about joining Tyronn Lue’s coaching staff.
Shaw may not be long for the G League life, as it was reported on Thursday that he has been in discussions with the Clippers regarding an assistant coaching position. The former NBA point guard and assistant spent this past season leading the G League Ignite squad, which was a combination of young players who decided to forego college and NBA/G League veterans. Among the players on the roster were Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga, who are projected to be high-lottery picks in this month’s draft.

Terry Stotts, Brian Shaw and Steve Clifford will reportedly headline the first round of interviews for the Indiana Pacers’ head coaching vacancy.
Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Pacers are putting a premium on coaches with previous head coaching experience after going through the debacle with Nate Bjorkgren this past season, and while these three will interview sometime this week, we’d expect more names to be added to the list throughout the summer. The Pacers are just starting their head coaching search, so we wouldn’t anticipate a definitive decision anytime soon.

Brian Shaw has officially been named coach of the new G-League elite team and will coach prep star Jalen Green.
This isn’t exactly breaking news as he agreed to the deal back on June 1, but he’s now officially Green’s coach.

Brian Shaw has reportedly agreed to become the coach of the new NBA G League elite pro team.
He’ll coach No. 1 prospect shooting guard Jalen Green, who might be the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Congratulations, coach Shaw.

Brian Shaw gave several interesting details in a long interview with Ian Thompson of SI, including that being associated with Phil Jackson and the triangle offense didn’t work in his favor. It was also revealed through a source that he learned of Mike Brown’s hiring via a text from Kobe Bryant.
Shaw isn’t thrilled that the Lakers took three weeks to notify him of Brown’s hiring, nor does he understand the league’s apparent disdain for the triangle. Apparently, Phil Jackson and Tex Winter were the only guys smart enough to put a team together that could run it effectively.

Pacers assistant Brian Shaw will interview with Blazers’ GM Neil Olshey on Wednesday night regarding the head coaching job.
Shaw is one of the top assistants in the league and could easily end up landing this job if Olshey likes him.
  • NBA Head Coach
Brian Shaw and Jeff Van Gundy are being “strongly considered” for the Clippers head coaching job, according to the Orange County Register.
The Clippers are known to be interested in Lionel Hollins, Alvin Gentry, Byron Scott and Nate McMillan in addition to Shaw and Van Gundy, but it’s not clear if there is a frontrunner at this point in the process.

The Clippers recently “reached out” to Brian Shaw, two NBA executives told the Los Angeles Times
Shaw and his agent have come out and said that Shaw won’t do any interviews before the Pacers’ season ends, but when Indiana’s year does ultimately conclude, the team’s lead assistant will be in demand. The Clippers reportedly have Shaw as a top candidate, and the team was reportedly given permission to speak to Shaw by Indiana’s front office.

Brian Shaw will meet with the Nets regarding their head coaching vacancy this week, sources told ESPN’s Marc Stein.
Peter Vecsey reported that Shaw will meet with GM Billy King on Wednesday, but that has not been confirmed. Regardless, Shaw is in line to meet with the team this week and Brooklyn could begin to really ramp up its pursuit of Shaw since he’s got several teams going after him for their head coach opening.

Brian Shaw is still scheduled to meet with the Nets Wednesday afternoon regarding their head coaching vacancy.
A deal with Jason Kidd appears on the verge of happening, but Mikhail Prokhorov is still sending a private jet to bring Shaw to Brooklyn. It’s likely just a fall-back plan, or a leverage tool in negotiations with Kidd. Shaw has a much better shot at landing the Clippers job.
