Brian Goodwin has signed with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League.
Goodwin last appeared in the majors during the 2021 season when he got into 71 games for the White Sox. He played in the independent Mexican League and also in Taiwan’s Chinese Professional Baseball League last year.

Brian Goodwin has elected free agency.
Goodwin has opted for free agency, rather than accept an outright minor-league assignment, after being removed from the White Sox’ 40-man roster. The 31-year-old outfielder hit .221/.319/.374 with 33 runs scored, eight home ruins, 29 RBI and one stolen base across 271 plate appearances last season.

White Sox sent OF Brian Goodwin outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Goodwin is off the White Sox’ 40-man roster after being left off the team’s NLDS roster after hitting .221/.319/.374 with 33 runs scored, eight home ruins, 29 RBI and one stolen base across 271 plate appearances last season. The 31-year-old outfielder will likely elect free agency and should be able to latch on somewhere as extra position player depth this offseason.

White Sox placed OF Brian Goodwin on the 10-day injured list with back spasms.
The move is retroactive to September 24, but Goodwin will miss the rest of the regular season. The 30-year-old posted a .221/.319/.374 slash line this season over 235 at-bats with eight home runs and 29 RBI.

  • FA 1st Baseman #79
Jose Abreu is not in Monday’s lineup against the Tigers.
He’s presumably getting a routine day of rest. Gavin Sheets will start at first base and Brian Goodwin will function as the DH.

  • CWS Center Fielder #88
Luis Robert will get a day off on Saturday night against the Cubs.
Robert will get a routine maintenance day after making six consecutive starts for the White Sox. It’ll be Brian Goodwin taking over in center field on Saturday night.

  • CWS Center Fielder #88
Luis Robert is getting a day off on Saturday against the Rays.
Robert has started nine of the White Sox’ last 11 games since returning from the injured list earlier this month. It’s a routine maintenance day for the 24-year-old outfielder, as Brian Goodwin will occupy his spot in center field on Saturday afternoon.

Brian Goodwin went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts Friday against the Rays.
Goodwin is 3-for-22 with no RBI in his last eight appearances. He’s been starting regularly of late with Leury Garcia and now Adam Engel on the IL -- he even started against a lefty on Thursday -- but he’ll need to quickly exit this slump in order to retain his playing time.

  • FA Center Fielder #5
White Sox manager Tony La Russa told reporters Adam Engel (groin) will not be available on Saturday against the Yankees.
Engel is undergoing treatment on his injured right groin and won’t be available on Saturday night. It seems like he’ll avoid a trip to the injured list and should be considered day-to-day for now. Brian Goodwin will handle right field in his absence.

Brian Goodwin clubbed a go-ahead home run in the 10th inning on Friday, powering the White Sox to an 8-6 victory over the Cubs.
Goodwin opened the 10th inning with his go-ahead two-run blast off of Manuel Rodriguez. The White Sox went on to tack on an additional two runs in the frame -- which were needed after Frank Schwindel blasted a two-run homer to start the home half of the frame. Goodwin finished the afternoon 1-for-2 and is now hitting .246/.331/.465 with seven homers and 21 RBI.
