The Raiders have shown interest in free agent C Brett Romberg.
Romberg is small, but athletic and has starting experience. He’d fit nicely in Oakland’s zone-blocking scheme as a backup for 34-year-old John Wade.
  • Rams signed C Brett Romberg from Jacksonville’s practice squad.
He should be a backup in St. Louis, helping to replace Andy McCollum, who was lost for the season.
  • Falcons re-signed C Brett Romberg and waived C Rob Bruggeman.
The Falcons presumably released Romberg at final cuts because they didn’t want to guarantee the 32-year-old’s salary. A former starter with the Rams, he offers much more experience than the untested Bruggeman as a backup center.
  • Jaguars signed FB Lee Webb, RB Rich Alexis, C Brett Romberg, CB Chris Roberson, DE Jim Davis and LS Andrew Economos to the practice squad.
They have two more practice squad slots to fill.
  • Rams RG Richie Incognito (ankle) will return to the lineup this week.
Incognito’s high ankle sprain cost him the first four weeks. Milford Brown will slide over to right tackle, with Claude Terrell at right guard. The Rams’ only projected starting lineman at his original position is C Brett Romberg.
  • Rams C Andy McCollum (knee surgery) says he feels “100 percent” healthy.
McCollum is likely in danger of being cut if he doesn’t win the starting job from Brett Romberg. St. Louis’ decision to draft Dustin Fry wasn’t good news.
  • Rams CB Brett Romberg limped off the field Sunday with a leg injury.
Romberg came into the game with a sprained ankle, so this may be related. Andy McCollum, who has been starting at left guard, is Romberg’s backup.
  • Brett Romberg (ankle) returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday’s session.
Romberg was initially expected to miss several games, but said Thursday that he’s “definitely going to play” in Week 7.
