Patriots selected LSU EDGE Bradyn Swinson with the No. 146 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
After four developmental years at Oregon, Swinson (6’4/255) erupted at LSU in 2024 under DC Blake Baker’s 4-2-5 scheme, racking up 13 TFLs and 8.5 sacks while leading the Tigers in pressures (59, 5th in FBS). A twitchy, stand-up edge rusher with fluid bend and long-limbed length, Swinson brings arc acceleration and first-step burst to threaten the outside shoulder. He excels against tight ends and flashes heavy hands with a punch-into-extension combo that allows him to disengage and close with agility, leading to an exceptional 89.6 pass rush grade last year. However, he’s still raw—more reactive than proactive—and his edge plan lacks cohesion. One year of starting experience and an early-career meniscus injury add to durability and development flags. Coaches will want to probe character concerns after a 2024 suspension for “not meeting team standards.” Best fit is as a 3-4 OLB in a sub-package role initially, with starter upside if his rush sequencing and strength catch up to the traits.
  • Uncommitted three-star DL Bradyn Swinson will announce his college choice on September 20.
That’s a Friday, if you’re curious, and you should be. Swinson (6'4/245) may ‘only’ get the three-star designation, but he has offers from several of the usual powers, and he’s deciding between Oregon, UNC, Arizona State and Florida State. In the 247Sports crystal ball projections, there is none, so this is really anyone’s game. They rank Swinson as the 54th best player in Georgia, and the 35th best strongside defensive end in the 2020 class.
