Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora spoke about their current roster, preparing for opening day, and the competition in the American League East.

The Boston Red Sox' spring is off to an encouraging start.

After opening spring training with a win over the Minnesota Twins, Boston earned a dramatic victory over the Tampa Bay Rays Friday at JetBlue Park. Shortstop prospect Christian Koss played the hero with two home runs, including the walk-off with two outs in the ninth inning.

Watch Koss' blast below:

Koss is the No. 31 ranked prospect in the Red Sox system, per SoxProspects.com. The 24-year-old spent the 2021 campaign with High-A Greenville, where he hit .271 with 15 homers and 55 RBI in 104 games. He joined the Red Sox in Fort Myers as a non-roster invitee.

Also worth noting from Boston's 7-6 win is second-year slugger Bobby Dalbec homering for the second consecutive game.

Nathan Eovaldi, the Red Sox' Opening Day starter, allowed two runs on three hits while striking out three batters in three innings of work.

Boston's will visit the Minnesota Twins for their next spring matchup on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET.
