The best third baseman in Major League Baseball, at least from a statistical standpoint, plays for the Boston Red Sox.
His name is Rafael Devers.
The 24-year-old star went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI in Boston's 9-5 road win over the Tampa Bay Rays in 11 innings at Tropicana Field. His two-run double in the top of the 11th inning proved to be the difference.

It was one of many excellent performances from Devers this season. His production at the plate has been fantastic, and as Sox Notes pointed out on Twitter, Devers leads the majors in many offensive categories among third baseman.
Devers still has room to improve defensively and makes a few too many errors in the field. But you'll take those defensive struggles when he's producing at such an elite level at the plate.
The Red Sox have one of the league's best offenses and rank second in the American League with 371 runs scored. Devers has played a huge part in that success, and he fully deserves to start at third base in next month's MLB All-Star Game as a reward.
