With a struggling season, should the Red Sox do whatever necessary to get the number one pick? It may not be that simple.
FINAL SCORE: Tampa Bay Rays 17, Boston Red Sox 8
IN BRIEF: The Red Sox lost their fourth straight game as they were swept by the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, and it wasn't pretty.
Sox starter Kyle Hart was shelled for seven hits and five earned runs while allowing three walks in his two innings of work. Boston's relievers didn't fare much better, as Phillips Valdez allowed six more runs on five hits and failed to record an out. Even infielder Jose Peraza made an appearance on the mound before he took a comebacker off the knee and was replaced by catcher Kevin Plawecki.
Rookie infielder Jonathan Arauz was a bright spot for the Red Sox with two hits and an RBI, and Plawecki tallied three RBIs of his own.
RED SOX RECORD: 6-13
