Garrett Whitlock broke out for the Boston Red Sox last season and became their most reliable bullpen arm. The organization rewarded the right-hander with a new contract on Sunday.
The Red Sox announced they have signed Whitlock to an extension that spans the 2023-26 seasons and includes club options for ’27 and ’28. The four-year deal is worth $18.5 million while the ’27 option is for $8.5 million and the ’28 option is $10.5 million, per MLB.com.

The team celebrated the extension with a Whitlock hype video on Twitter.
Boston acquired Whitlock in the 2020 Rule 5 Draft when the archrival New York Yankees left the 25-year-old unprotected. In his debut season, he posted a sparkling 1.96 ERA in 46 relief appearances.
"With commitments like this, we're in good hands," manager Alex Cora said Sunday. "He's a good kid, he deserves it. I'm glad he's going to be with us for an extended period of time."
