The MLB Trade Deadline is a little over 24 hours away and the Boston Red Sox continue to eye additions to their bullpen.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Red Sox have reported interest in Cardinals closer Bud Norris.
Norris, 33, has a 3.14 ERA this season with 20 saves in 23 opportunities. His strikeout to walk ratio (6.88) has never been higher throughout the course of his 10-year career.
It's no secret the Red Sox need bullpen help. During such a successful season for Boston, standing as the best team in baseball heading into August, the bullpen woes have been practically the lone blemish.
Dave Dombrowski and the Red Sox front office already traded for starter Nathan Eovaldi for Jalen Beeks, but have not found a team to give up a solid relief pitcher for their desired price.
Norris, a 33-year-old veteran on a one-year contract and who's possibly gotten on the nerves of Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks, could very well be had at a low price.
Given the state of the Red Sox farm system, buying low may be their only option to upgrade the big-league roster.
