Duran is the ninth player to be placed on the COVID IL by Boston within the last week, a list which has grown to include Xander Bogaerts, Kiké Hernandez, Matt Barnes, Christian Arroyo, Yairo Munoz, Josh Taylor, Hirokazu Sawamura and Martin Perez. Three coaches have also been on the list at various points over the last month.
Duran, who turns 25 Sunday, is 4 for 21 since being recalled from Worcester on Aug. 26 for the second time this season. On the year, he's hitting .215 with two homers, 17 runs batted in and two stolen bases in 107 at-bats.
