It wasn't all good news for the Boston Red Sox during their weekend series win over the Chicago White Sox.
The Red Sox have placed left-hander David Price on the 10-day injured list retroactive to May 3 with left elbow tendinitis, the team announced Monday.
Boston recalled right-hander Ryan Weber from Triple-A Pawtucket to fill Price's roster spot.
Price pitched six solid innings against the White Sox on Thursday, allowing three runs over six innings while striking out five. The 33-year-old has had elbow issues in the past, however, missing the start of the 2017 season due to what he claimed doctors said was a "very unique" elbow injury.
That 2017 injury didn't require surgery, as Price told reporters at the time his elbow "heals itself."
Price had been enjoying a decent 2019 campaign with a 3.75 ERA and 42 strikeouts over 36 innings pitched.
