As Mookie Betts heads into an offseason of uncertainty, he added to his treasure trove of awards on Sunday night.
For the fourth straight year, Betts won the Gold Glove Award for American League right fielders, beating out the Angels' Kole Calhoun and the Astros' Josh Reddick.
Betts had a .996 fielding percentage in right field in 2019, making only one error while racking up eight outfield assists, the second-highest total among all AL right fielders.
But will this be Betts' final award as a member of the Red Sox? He's entering the final year of his contract, and with a huge payday in free agency looming, the Sox front office could look to deal him away this offseason rather than letting him walk away a year from now.
And when the team tweeted out a congratulatory message for Betts Sunday night, the specter of a deal was on the minds of many Red Sox fans.
Betts was the only Red Sox player to take home a Gold Glove Sunday. At catcher, Christian Vazquez lost out to Cleveland's Roberto Perez, while Kansas City left fielder Alex Gordon beat Andrew Benintendi and Tampa's Kevin Kiermaier beat out Jackie Bradley, Jr., who won the Gold Glove in center field last season.
