The Red Sox announced E-Rod's return shortly after his tweet:
Rodriguez's return to camp is a breath of fresh air for a Boston team that needs all the help it can get on its pitching staff. E-Rod will be counted on to anchor a thin rotation that also consists of Nathan Eovaldi, Martin Perez, and question marks in the fourth and fifth slots. Veteran right-hander Zack Godley could contribute at some point as well after signing a minor league deal with the Red Sox this week.
It'll be Eovaldi getting the start Friday when the Red Sox host the Baltimore Orioles on Opening Day.
