Boston Red Sox pitcher Collin McHugh is the latest player to opt out of the 2020 MLB season.
Manager Ron Roenicke informed the media of McHugh's decision on Sunday, noting the right-hander's arm hasn't come around as he hoped it would. McHugh, 32, has dealt with an elbow injury over the past year and had a procedure in December in hopes that would help his elbow improve.
Ultimately, McHugh wasn't pleased with his progress and chose to spend the 2020 season spending time with his family rather than on the injured list.

The Red Sox signed McHugh in March in an attempt to bolster a noticeably thin pitching staff. Currently, the starting rotation consists of Eduardo Rodriguez, Nathan Eovaldi, Martin Perez, and then a couple of question marks in the fourth and fifth spots.
Boston will begin its season July 24 vs. the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park, and it'll be Eovaldi on the mound for the Red Sox. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
