The Boston Red Sox are the defending World Series champions, but oddsmakers expect their top rival, the New York Yankees, to take the crown during the 2019 MLB season.
The Yankees currently are the favorites to win the 2019 World Series at +600, with the Red Sox just behind them at +700.

The Yankees had a good offseason with the additions of starting pitcher James Paxton, reliever Adam Ottavino and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. The Red Sox lost reliever Joe Kelly in free agency and still haven't re-signed closer Craig Kimbrel, but aside from those two pitchers, Boston hasn't lost any other key contributors from last year's title-winning roster.
These teams met in October last season when the Red Sox eliminated the Yankees in the American League Division Series en route to their fourth World Series championship since 2000. It was the first playoff matchup between the sport's top rivals since 2004.
Oddsmakers clearly expect them to meet again in the 2019 postseason, and we can't imagine baseball fans would be too upset if it happened.
