Manny Machado has been a controversial figure in the national spotlight during the playoffs this year. The Brewers were not fans of Machado's play, and didn't hold back in the media, labeling Machado as a dirty player.
Red Sox fans need no introduction to Machado's history of questionable plays on the diamond, as most have not forgotten Machado spiking Dustin Pedroia and injuring him at the start of last season. Reliever Matt Barnes wasn't a fan of the slide either, and threw at Machado in retaliation, earning himself a four-game suspension. Barnes, for his part, has not gone down the 'forgive and forget' path that others may choose.
Machado, however, isn't here to talk about what happened in the past. He's focused on winning his first World Series.
"That's old history... I'm a Dodger now and I'm here to win a World Series and that's all that matters right now" said Machado when asked about his incidents with Boston in recent years. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, a beloved figure in Red Sox history, is on the same page.
"So I've heard a little bit about the history with the Red Sox, but when you're in the World Series I think that each team's goal is to win four baseball games. So I don't think that the history really has any effect on these next games."
As far as the allegations of being a dirty player go, Machado won't hear any of it.
"I play hard for my ballclub. Whatever uniform I'm put on, I'm going to bleed and die. I hustle, I run down the line, I do whatever I can to win ballgames, and those are the only things that we can control as ballplayers."

Machado has some friends among enemies in the Red Sox dugout, though. Former teammate Steve Pearce called him "The best person I know in the game" when asked about his time with Machado in Baltimore.
Things may get interesting in Boston when a player with Machado's past comes to town. Machado and the Dodgers, at the very least, seemed more focused on winning than reviving old feuds.
