John Krasinski, David Ortiz, Red Sox surprise Boston hospital workers with awesome gift

Actor and Massachusetts native John Krasinski -- who you best know as Jim Halpert from "The Office" -- is hosting a new web show amid the coronavirus pandemic called, "Some Good News."

That title was an understatement for his special guests Sunday.

Krasinski hosted members of the COVID-19 unit at Boston's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center who are on the front lines treating those infected with the coronavirus.

Krasinski had two surprises in store for these health care workers: 1) A cameo from Red Sox legend David Ortiz, and 2) Free Red Sox tickets for life.

Ortiz made the announcement, with Krasinski confirming that "everyone at Beth Israel" would receive four free Red Sox tickets for life.

That's a pretty generous donation, even if it's unclear when the Red Sox' next game will be with Major League Baseball currently shut down.

The surprises didn't stop there: The group of Beth Israel staffers got to ride on a Duck Boat to Fenway Park, where they threw out ceremonial "first pitches" while Ortiz, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Mass. Governor Charlie Baker and members of the Red Sox cheered them on from the video board.

The staffers seemed thrilled, but this gesture was the least Krasinski, Ortiz and the Red Sox could do to thank them and other Boston-area health care workers for continuing to work tirelessly amid the pandemic.
