Watch: DeVante Parker joins Mac Jones, new Pats teammates for workout

DeVante Parker is hitting the ground running with his new team.

The veteran wide receiver, whom the Patriots officially acquired from the Miami Dolphins via trade Tuesday, joined forces with his new quarterback, Mac Jones, and a host of New England skill players for a throwing session Wednesday in Florida.

Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne documented the day on his Instagram story, with fellow wideouts Jakobi Meyers and Nelson Agholor also in attendance in addition to running back J.J. Taylor.

Jones, Bourne, Meyers, Agholor and Taylor all worked out together Tuesday, and Parker met up with them later in the night, according to Bourne's Instagram story.

It's a good sign that Parker linked up with his new teammates almost immediately after the deal became official -- and probably not a good sign for N'Keal Harry that the 2019 first-round pick didn't join the party.

The 6-foot-3, 219-pound Parker could provide for Jones what both Harry and Agholor failed to in 2021. While Parker doesn't have blazing speed, he's an excellent deep threat who can stretch the field and discourage opposing secondaries from creeping up to stop the run. Parker averaged an impressive 16.7 yards per reception in 2019, finishing with 72 receptions for 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns.

Health has been a concern for the 29-year-old, though, which may explain why Miami was willing to trade him to a division rival. Parker has missed at least two games in five of his seven NFL seasons and 20 games total due to various ailments.

Still, Parker boasts impressive upside and seems excited about his new opportunity. He reportedly pushed to be traded to New England and spoke highly of the organization in his first public comments as a Patriot on Wednesday.

"I'm very excited," Parker said. "I'm just blessed that they gave me a chance and gave me an opportunity just to come out and help out the team in any way I can.

"I appreciate the fans for their support, and I'm just looking forward to it. I'm ready to get it going."
