The 2019 NFL Scouting Combine begins Tuesday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where the next wave of football stars will show off their skills with scouts, coaches and front office executives watching.
Not everyone at the event will impress, though. In fact, the greatest player in NFL history put together some pretty lackluster numbers in various combine drills. That player is New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, whose 40-yard dash time, vertical jump number and arm strength were either underwhelming or just not that impressive.
Take a look at some of his combine highlights from 2000 in the video below:
This helps prove raw athleticism isn't the only factor that should be included in a player's full evaluation. The mental aspect of the game is so important, and no player has more mental toughness, heart and composure under pressure than Brady. Basically, all the "intangibles." Those attributes are not easy to scout, which is among the reasons why Brady fell all the way to the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft.
What did NFL people say about Brady at the combine? Here's the list Brady shared in an Instagram post from March 3, 2017:
--Poor build
--Skinny
--Lacks great physical stature and strength
--Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush
--Lacks a really strong arm
--Can’t drive the ball downfield
--Does not throw a really tight spiral
--System-type player who can get exposed if forced to ad lib
--Gets knocked down easily

Brady proved everybody wrong, and 19 years later, he's probably still motivated by the criticisms listed above.
