Stephon Gilmore capped off one the best seasons of his career with a first-team All-Pro selection.

He joins former Patriots Ty Law (1998, 2003), Darrelle Revis (2014) and Asante Samuel (2007) as New England cornerbacks to be named to first-team All-Pro.

Gilmore had a shaky start to his first season with the Patriots, but ended last season strong. He carried that momentum into this year as the highest-rated cornerback in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus

The seven-year veteran started all 16 games for the Patriots, racking up a career high in passes defensed with two interceptions and 45 tackles. The Chicago Bears' Kyle Fuller was the other first-team cornerback.

Gilmore wasn't the only Patriot to be named to an All-Pro team. Cordarrelle Patterson was a second-team selection as a kick returner.

Patterson totaled 663 return yards and a touchdown, averaging 28.8 yards per return.

The Patriots had two All-Pro players last season in Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. The Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes and New Orleans Saints' Drew Brees were this year's first- and second-team quarterbacks. Travis Kelce of the Chiefs and George Kittle of the 49ers were first- and second-team tight ends. It's the first time since 2015 Brady wasn't named to the AP's All-Pro first or second team.
