Rob Gronkowski announced his NFL retirement earlier this spring ... but is he actually done playing?
The former New England Patriots tight end has heard the question a million times since his late March decision. And since he can't stop people from asking, he's decided to have a little fun with it.
Here's Gronkowski answering the retirement question (again) at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night:
"I mess with people," Gronkowski said. "I say 'fake retired' to half the people. I say I'm coming back next week.
"But yes, I'm actually retired. But I like to mess around, sometimes tell people I'm really not."
Gronk then did exactly that, adding this mischievous line:

"You never know. You mess around that much about it, I might convince myself."
Gronkowski turns just 30 on May 14 (11 years younger than Tom Brady) so it's possible his football itch will resurface after a summer of rest and recovery. Of course, it's also possible Gronk doesn't miss the bruising game one bit while pursuing various interests in Hollywood, professional wrestling or entrepreneurship.
The point is, no one knows what Gronk's future holds except Gronk -- and he's not about to make his intentions clear.
