With the 163rd pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select Stanford punter Jake Bailey.
- Pats select RB Harris in Round 3
- Pats select OT Cajuste in Round 3
- Pats select OL Froholdt in Round 4
- Pats select QB Stidham in Round 4
Bailey (6-2) averaged 43.8 yards per punt during his collegiate career with the Cardinal. He will join Ryan Allen as one of two punters on the roster for the New England Patriots. Bailey is the first punter that the Patriots have drafted since Zoltan Mesko in 2010.
One other note, Bailey is a right-footed punter. Typically, Bill Belichick likes to add left-footed punters, and both Allen and Mesko kicked with their left feet.
The Patriots once again traded up to make this selection. They traded up to the 159th pick with the Minnesota Vikings and at 163, they made a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. To make the move, they gave the Eagles picks 167 and 246.
