With the 159th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select Maryland defensive lineman Byron Cowart.

Cowart (6-4, 293 pounds) had 38 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions in his final season with the Terrapins. He played in 12 games. With the Patriots, he will provide depth on the defensive line and was considered one of the draft's prototypical Patriot by our own Phil Perry.

The Patriots traded up to acquire this pick, leapfrogging the Baltimore Ravens to select Cowart. They traded the 162nd pick and the 239th pick to the Vikings to make the move.
