NFL rumors: Patriots among teams ‘very interested' in Josh Rosen trade

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen could be on the move before the 2019 NFL season, and one of the teams reportedly "very interested" in acquiring him via trade is the New England Patriots.

FOX Sports 1's Joel Klatt dropped this news during Wednesday's episode of "Undisputed." Check out what he had to say in the video below.

Rosen was selected by the Cardinals with the 10th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The former UCLA star had a decent but not great rookie campaign. He completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 2,278 yards with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 14 games last season. It also didn't help that he was sacked 45 times, the seventh-highest total for any one QB in 2018.

The Patriots need a quarterback of the future, one who could someday replace 41-year-old Tom Brady as the starter.

Why would the Cardinals give up on Rosen? Well, they have a new head coach in Kliff Kingsbury, who might want to select his own franchise quarterback with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Oklahoma's Kyler Murray and Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins are the top QB prospects in this year's class.

The Patriots do have the draft capital to swing a trade for Rosen. They have 12 picks in next month's draft, including six in the first three rounds (one first-rounder, two second-rounders and three third-rounders). New England has more pressing needs than a backup QB, however, most notably at wide receiver and tight end following Rob Gronkowski's retirement.
