Report: Jets to part ways with Gase after Patriots game

It appears Adam Gase's final game as head coach of the New York Jets will take place in Foxboro.

The Jets are expected to part ways with Gase following Sunday's season finale vs. the New England Patriots, according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Media.

If Gase indeed is fired, it wouldn't exactly be a surprise. In his two seasons with New York, Gase has a 9-22 record. The Jets started their 2020 campaign 0-13, then won their last two games to lose the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Rapoport and Pelissero mention Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale, Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley as potential replacements for Gase.

As for Gase's next destination, is it possible he ends up on New England's coaching staff? The MMQB's Albert Breer mentioned the scenario in a recent column, and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has spoken highly of Gase on multiple occasions.
