It appears Wes Welker will be working alongside Tom Brady's former protégé in 2019.
The San Francisco 49ers are expected to hire Welker as their next wide receivers coach, The Athletic's Matt Barrows reported Tuesday.
The Houston Chronicle's John McClain appeared to break the news that Welker was leaving the Houston Texans, where he had spent the last two seasons as an offensive and special teams assistant.
Welker's bio had been removed from the Texans' website as of Tuesday afternoon.
The former Patriots wide receiver, who caught a franchise-record 672 passes during his six seasons in New England, now will work in a 49ers offense led by ex-Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
