The exodus from the Patriots coaching staff continued Saturday with the news that defensive line coach Brendan Daly will join the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff, according to a Boston Globe report.
With the departure of linebackers coach and defensive play-caller Brian Flores to become Miami Dolphins coach, and Flores bringing cornerbacks coach Josh Boyer with him from the Patriots, it leaves safeties coach Steve Belichick, son of head coach Bill Belichick, as the only remaining defensive position coach on the Patriots staff. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Rutgers coach Greg Schiano is expected to be named the Pats new defensive coordinator.
Daly has been with the Patriots since 2014, first as a coaching assistant for one season and then as defensive line coach. He'll now work under new Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo on Andy Reid's staff.
According to MassLive.com, Patriots consultant Bret Bielema, the former Arkansas and Wisconsin coach who worked with the defensive line last season, is a likely replacement for Daly.
The Patriots also lost two other offensive assistants to Flores' new Dolphins staff, wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea, who is now Miami's offensive coordinator, and assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski, who will assume the same position in Miami.
