Julian Edelman traded his helmet and pads for a cap and gown on Saturday.
The Patriots wide receiver is now a proud graduate of Kent State University.
Edelman, 32, tweeted a picture of himself with his parents at the graduation. He had said earlier this week that going back to get his degree fulfilled a promise he made to his them more than a decade ago and "set a great example" for his daughter:
Edelman was a quarterback for the Golden Flashes who was drafted by the Patriots in 2009 in the seventh round with the 232nd pick overall - 33 spots behind where his buddy Tom Brady was selected in the sixth round a decade earlier.
