Albert Breer shares his thoughts on what Josh McDaniels is looking for in a potential head coaching position, and whether or not McDaniels’ decision to turn down several offers makes teams less willing to interview him.
Josh McDaniels admitted recently he "definitely" wants to be an NFL head coach if the opportunity presents itself.
But getting that opportunity may require the New England Patriots offensive coordinator to do some recalibrating.
McDaniels had the Indianapolis Colts' head coach job sewn up in February 2018 before surprisingly backing out to remain with the Patriots. He was a top candidate for the Browns' opening last year before Cleveland went with Kevin Stefanski.

As Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer pointed out Tuesday on NBC Sports Boston, things didn't work out with Indianapolis and Cleveland in part because McDaniels wanted leeway to make significant changes in both organizations.
This time around, however, Breer believes McDaniels will be far less picky.
"I think coming out of that experience, Josh is a little more amenable to going somewhere that might not be completely perfect," Breer said, as seen in the video player above. "I think he realizes he's 45 years old and these opportunities aren't going to keep coming forever. So, I think he's a little more reasonable now in what he's looking for."
The Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets and Detroit Lions all have head coach openings at the moment, but our Tom E. Curran slowed the Houston hype train Wednesday.
So, where could McDaniels end up?
"I still think he's a really good coach," Breer added. "I think he'd do an awesome job somewhere. Great for a young quarterback. Would be really good with the Chargers and Justin Herbert.

"The question is whether or not you've said no so many times at this point that teams are less willing to go in and ask."
McDaniels likely would jump at the opportunity to work with Herbert, who might be the best quarterback of the 2020 draft class. But he'll have to put his past behind him.
