Antonio Brown's brief tenure with the New England Patriots has come to an end.
The Patriots released the controversial wide receiver after two weeks with the team. Brown took to Twitter to thank the organization for the opportunity.
Shortly after Brown posted his tweet, the team released the following statement:
"The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown. We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.”
Along with his tweet, Brown expressed his gratitude for head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady on Instagram.

Brown was accused of sexual assault and rape in a civil lawsuit on Sept. 11. On Friday morning, intimidating text messages sent by Brown to one of his accusers were leaked to the public. The NFL reportedly is currently investigating those messages.
In Brown's one game with New England, the 31-year-old notched four catches for 56 yards and a touchdown.
