There are missed free throws, and there are missed free throws like the one attempted by Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old big man failed to even hit the net during a trip to the line at TD Garden, continuing his league-worst woes from the charity stripe this season.

Plumlee, a 56.4 percent career free throw shooter, is dead last among qualified players in the NBA in 2021-22, entering play Wednesday at 36.4 percent (28 for 76) on foul shots. He actually shot a respectable 66.9 percent from the line last season with the Detroit Pistons, a career-best.

Poor free throw shooting seems to run in the Plumlee family, as both of Mason's brothers, former NBA players Marshall and Miles, shot 57.1 and 54.3 percent from the line, respectively. Mason Plumlee wasn't much better at free throws in college at Duke, either, where he shot 58.3 percent despite being a Consensus All-American Second Teamer in 2012-13.
