Celtics send two players to Magic in cash-saving trade

The Boston Celtics now have made two in-season trades under president of basketball operations Brad Stevens, and both have involved Bol Bol and P.J. Dozier.

The Celtics are sending Bol, Dozier, a future second-round draft pick and cash to the Magic for Orlando's future-second round pick, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

UPDATE (2:20 p.m. ET): The Celtics have made the trade official.

It's unlikely the Celtics actually receive the Magic's second-round pick, per Mass Live's Brian Robb.

As Wojnarowski notes, this move is mostly about Boston clearing cap space in its efforts to get under the luxury tax for the season.

NBA trade deadline live blog: Latest rumors and completed deals

Bol and Dozier, who are both sidelined with injuries and have yet to play since the Celtics acquired them from the Denver Nuggets in January as part of a three-team deal, are making roughly $4 million combined this season.

With two open roster spots at their disposal, it's possible the C's make another move before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline. Stay tuned.
